Club Policies

Club Times

Lower Primary Campus: 14:30 to 15:10 Fridays (last period)
Upper Primary Campus: 15:40 to 16:40 Monday, Wednesday and Thursday

There will not be a school bus provided after clubs. All students must have their own transportation home. Primary School students must be picked up by parents right after the club. If parents are consistently late to collect their child, it may result in removal from the Clubs Program. Lower Primary School students will leave school at the regular time and regular bussing will continue, as their clubs are not after school.

All after-school clubs are fee-based. The participation fee will be 1200 RMB (school teacher clubs)/1600 RMB (guest teacher clubs) per season per secondary school student. And the participation fee for Upper Primary school will be 800 RMB (school teacher clubs)/1200 RMB (guest teacher clubs) per season per primary school student.
For all club leaders, if there are additional material costs, the price of those costs will be calculated by the club leader and paid by the students within the first week after trial week(s).

All student-led clubs will charge 100 RMB per season per member as basic fee. If there are any material or transportation costs, club participants must cover those costs themselves.

Club fee is not refundable after trial week.

Members and Numbers

All Secondary clubs must have a minimum of 10 students for the club to run. If a club’s attendance numbers consistently fall below 10, that club may be cancelled.

All Primary clubs must have a minimum of 8 students for the club to run. If a club’s attendance numbers consistently fall below 8, that club may be cancelled.

Any club with more than 15 students wishing to participate must have two adult supervisors. This may include two teachers or one teacher and a parent volunteer.

Student-led clubs will have an adult supervisor at all times to oversee activities and take attendance.

Changing Clubs and Cancellation

All students will have an opportunity to change their club within the trial week(s) only. Students may only change clubs once.
If you want to change or cancel clubs after trial day, please email Ms. Elva at for secondary school students and Ms. Ully at for UPC students. If you don’t, we will assume that you will continue the club.
But if you missed the initial trial period, it is difficult to change clubs and students must make a special request by speaking to Ms. Elva in A104 of the Wang Jing Campus for secondary school students and Ms. Ully in A104 of the Wang Jing Campus for UPC students.

There is no trial week for LPC due to clubs inside the timetable.

If a club leader has a serious family or heath concern and needs to suddenly cancel a club, the school will make arrangements for a new teacher to take over, or for students to move to a new club.

Clubs should not be cancelled due to pollution or weather. In these cases, club leaders must provide a related indoor lesson. This includes recreational sporting clubs.

Assessments and Exhibitions

Clubs must fit into one of three categories; Academic, Creative, or Recreation. Academic clubs are subject-related and provide students with an extension of their school learning. Creative clubs will help students develop other professional skills related to artistic or practical abilities. Recreational sporting clubs are designed to encourage fitness while having fun. These sporting clubs are different to the competitive sports clubs, which run separately and according to a different schedule.

To demonstrate the value of our clubs, there will be a club exhibition at the end of each club season. Clubs will be required to show their progress through some kind of assessment tasks. This may be something they have made or designed, performances, videos, posters, field trips reflections or other creative ways of demonstrating progress and learning. Parents, friends and peers will be invited to the exhibition to encourage their friends and to get an idea of what other clubs provide.
